Delphine challenges Wyden as Libertarian candidate
Marc Delphine, Oregon’s first openly gay candidate for federal office, is the Libertarian Party of Oregon’s nominee for the U.S. Senate seat held by Sen. Ron Wyden.
Delphine announced his candidacy in March with a mission of “bringing communities together.” “We as a nation have been divided for far too long,” Delphine said. “Decimated by labels, we seem to grow further and further apart while our government is growing larger and more intrusive. We must put a stop to record deficits, the erosion of our civil liberties and the destruction of our environment. It is now time for a younger, fresher voice for Oregon.”
Delphine is a Tigard resident and chairman of Americans for Prosperity in Washington County, where he organized and led the county’s recent Tea Party rallies.
He is opposed to the U.S. military’s “don’t ask don’t tell” policy, in favor of industrial hemp for jobs and the environment and is campaigning on “Audit the Fed.”
Delphine also serves on the Mt. View Middle School local school committee and was elected to the Tigard Water Board in 2003.
